Review of Rockstar (2011) by Ratish K — 12 Nov 2011
Ranbir Kapoor rocks it all over again ... Jat boy Janardan Jakhar to Rockstar Jordan, in retrospective, from the very first few frames of the movie promises an unusual experience and it lived upto it. The storytelling can look contrived but the flip side is that it showcases the "state of mind" of the protagonist perfectly which is first of its type in Bollywood.
Imtiaz Ali has built his castle on Rahman's score which gives life to this movie and Ranbir lived it all with the apt innocence, seething pain and rebel angst. Nargis Fakhri was not more than a pretty face but fulfilled the need of a fresh face.
The other less talked aspect is Mohit Chauhan's renderings which are so contemporary, styled and fresh. This movie is surely ahead of its time and may fail to impress masses. A winner for me :).
