Review of RocknRolla (2008) by Darren H — 01 May 2010
In RocknRolla, the cockney gangster film attempts to fit in with the changing times, where the crime underworld not only has to adapt to doing business with rich immigrants, gays, and really sophisticated black people - it means knowing the ins and outs of legitimate business. Real estate lawyers are just as important as your defense lawyer. Old dog Lenny (Tom Wilkinson) is the titled "RocknRolla" whose past habits and past failings as a human being prevent him from fully integrating with the times. He is even handed a wheelchair to die in.
A relatively low key film from a maturing Guy Ritchie.
