Review of RocknRolla (2008) by Aaron H — 07 Feb 2011

Guy Ritchie, the director of 'Snatch', 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels' & 'Sherlock Holmes' directs another nice London, street-thuggin crime story with a great cast, dialogue, and soundtrack. The first thing that should be noted about this movie is how well the cast worked together. It almost seemed like all of the actors were all friends or knew eachother! Tom Hardy (Inception, Layer Cake) who played Handsome Bob was fantastic, as well as Gerard Butler (300, Law Abiding Citizen, Gamer), Thandie Newton (The Chronicles of Riddick, 2012, Norbit) and Ludacris (2 Fast 2 Furious, Gamer). The story was okay. It basically revolves around high-end business in London and a missing painting. The movie will keep your attention from scene 1 just because it will leave you thinking, what the fuck do these guys really want with this painting??? The story is a bit confusing. If you have seen 'Snatch' or 'Lock, Stock' then you will be prepared for how this movie flows. If you have not seen these Guy Ritchie classics, then you are in for a nice treat. The move flows very well and is always bringing forth a new suprise or twist. Just sit back and watch it with an open mind. If you do this, then you are bound to have an enjoyable time watching it. The dialog may be a bit confusing (unless of course you are full-blown British) but never-the-less it is still a very intersting and enjoyable movie. It is the kind of movie that will have you anticipating the next twist or story stretch. It's funny seeing Ludacris and Gerad Butler in mutliple movie's together since they both re-unite for the 2009 sci-fi/action-fest 'GAMER'.

Overall: RocknRolla works very well if you view it with an open mind and an open vocabulary. Just for the record, it is directed very, very, VERY well. check it out!
