Review of Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979) by Jose M — 26 May 2009
Comedy, high school, Rock N Roll, and the Ramones(!), what could go wrong? Oh wait! The cast and characters! I love the music, but I despised the characters and the setting to the place. I loathed riff the most! She was spoiled as she was un-sympathetic along with all the other cast members. Another thing that was shameful was her attitude, in one scene, she leads a rebellion against the parents. I'm pretty sure she bought her tickets and got everything from her parents. Even worse, I never thought I would complain about this, but there needed to be some diversity. There was only one black man (I wanted see more of him) and that's about it. Where's the Latino, Asian, Persian, or any other race? Everybody, except for the black guy I wanted to see more of, is middle class or rich or popular. Boring and uninteresting.
Now that I'm done talking about the mistakes in the movie, I did laugh a lot and enjoyed some other stuff the movie offered. I enjoyed the rats exploding as well as the giant rats in the movie. Watch it for the Ramones, but avoid paying attention to the characters.
