Review of Rock-A-Doodle (1991) by Christopher N — 02 Nov 2007
This might not actually be Don Bluth's best movie, but it is definitely his strangest, and therefore my favorite. It has the same hellzapoppin' style as lots of my other favorite movies, like Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Casino Royale, or It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
Dozens of disparate characters, settings, and styles all get thrown together and synthesized, creating a genuine (in my mind, anyway) surrealist film masterpiece. I don't think many other animated children's films from the nineties could legitimately labeled as such.
