Review of Rock-A-Doodle (1991) by Kevin R — 11 Jan 2015
Show him we believe.
Chanticleer was a small town rooster that was recognized as responsible for getting up in the morning and causing the sun to rise; however, one day he is exposed to be a phony and the sun rises without him. Chanticleer leaves the town and goes into the city and becomes a star. The town then goes a long while without the sun rising leading to evil owls taking over the town. A group of kids from the town head into the city to try and convince Canticleer to return.
"He's going to kill my nephew. Would that be murder or charity?".
Don Bluth, director of Titan AE, Thumbelina, Anastasia, An American Tale, The Land Before Time, The Secret of NIHM, and All Dogs to Heaven, delivers Rock-a-Doodle. The storyline for this picture is fun and entertaining. The tunes are catchy and definitely make you smile. The animation style was just okay and I enjoyed the voices of Glen Campbell, Phil Harris, Christopher Plummer, and Charles Nelson Reilly.
"How did you kill him?".
"Adequately.".
We grabbed this off Netflix as an interesting movie to watch with my five year old. It was catchy and kept her attention. I wouldn't say it was one of her favorites, but with was fun. I would recommend watching this with your child but wouldn't add it to your DVD collection.
"From head to toe, we'll never let him crow.".
Grade: C+.
