Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Nick A — 04 Aug 2008
The best action hero never given to us by B-movies, ROBOCOP 2 takes a character from a previously more intelligent, accurately satirical script and places him in a dumber yet more action packed script.
Too much, ROBOCOP 2 dabbles in certain themes (such as Robocop being nice, OCP taking over an entire city), but possibly in too many of them and thus the ideas are underdeveloped and clunky. The film starts incredibly strong with a fantastic depiction of chaos, but the excitement wears down progressively as the film results to more ROBOCOP redundancies and predictable events.
Regardless, as an action movie, ROBOCOP 2 delivers with some of his most badass moments yet. This sequel could have used a bit more originality, (although, you have to hang it to the creators, the use of kids as villains was pretty interesting).
Doesn't have the sharp satire as ROBOCOP 1 but at least it enhances the fun from our favorite robotic vigilante.
