Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Marques M — 20 Aug 2008
Damn it all...Revisiting this movie has lingered for far too long...
Let me just say that there are a vast number of things wrong with this movie, and Robocop being thwarted by an obnoxious prepubescent punk does nothing to help. Things turn really bleak in this movie as the disturbingly powerful corporation OCP sets out to make an updated, easily controlled model of their now-successful "Robocop". Of course, you won't know where this is going until the third act, but that's only one flub. The stand-out mistake that this movie makes is that it tries too hard. Everything from action to social commentary comes across as the high school drop-out version of the first film. It's all dumbed down, but worse than that it is also way over the top.
Nothing works in this movie, but it could have. That's what is truly frustrating...
