Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Adam M — 22 Oct 2008
I would hate to think that people would assume that I like this movie only because of the gratuitous violence. While on the surface it is merely a hyperviolent action movie with 2 dimensional characters and lots of blood.
Frankly thatâ??s why I watched it when I was little. Now that I am older and I have learned so much about recent history (Reagonomics, the recession in the 1980â??s, the rust bell and crime in Detriot) this movie means a great deal more.
Itâ??s a black comedy when you get right down to the heart of the film. Criminals and CEOs act in the same ruthless manner, killing and watching people die with little or no regard for any morality or since of right and wrong.
And the only think that can save Detroit from a privatized De Facto fascist regime is its own creation. A 5â??10 walking law enforcing killing machine built to last and a determination that goes past programming or residual memories.
Itâ??s his duty, his cross to bear.
