Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Kent N — 23 Oct 2009
It's not as good as the first movie but it is a worthy sequel. The movie seems to suffer from the occasional comedic moment, but they don't work. It completely undermines the movie and the story seems to be a bit haphazard.
One of the problems I had with this movie was some eight-year old running the mob throughout much of the movie. His thugs, and even the mayor, are terrified of him and obey his every command. While I love this movie, this is something that really hurts the movie for me.
The movie begins to really pick up when RoboCain (aka Robocop 2) shows up and begins to cause havoc. The final battle between Robocop and RoboCain is a lot of fun and enjoyable!
All-in-all, it's a good sequel but is a wee bit too campy in too many spots. There is a solid story here and it is fairly enjoyable. I still have to recommend this movie to fans of the first one. It is fun and the final battle makes up for any of the shortcomings the movie has.
