Paul Verhoeven (Starship Troopers, Basic Instinct) has a habit of directing very good Sci-Fi movies, or Horror movies, or both put together in one movie (Starship Troopers) and still making them interesting, when the topic or plot sucks.
This on the other hand, the plot was good, and the movie shines. Good job Mr. Verhoeven.
