Review of Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964) by Martin T — 17 Oct 2009
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. It somewhat holds up today. The special FX were fairly advanced for 1964. Death Valley serves as mars. Some of the shots incorporated some visuals that would have been done with green screens today.
I'm assuming it was done by some sort of forced perspective. Either way it worked quite well. There was quite a bit of harware used by the main character (who was stranded on Mars.) that I believe to have been state of the art in 1964.
This is actually amusing to see compred to our tech today. If you are a fan of the Daniel Defoe story this is worth a look or if you want to see a quality production from that era its worth a look.
