Review of Robin Hood (2018) by Dc127 — 06 Mar 2019
When I saw all of the bad reviews I thought "the movie can't really be that bad." I was wrong. So wrong. There was clearly a lot of money dumped into this film. Some of the visuals were downright amazing. I also appreciated how it tried to portray soldiers akin to what occurs in the middle east now. I mean I appreciated how they were swinging big and that it was an interesting choice.
Everything else in the film is a disaster. The pacing and plot are just terrible. None of the set pieces pay off. I was also very annoyed at how they were very heavy handed about a parallel to the US being in the middle east being evil and how the church is just a bunch of evil white men. For the record the Crusades were a response to invasions by muslims, not aggression by Christians into Muslim lands. It was clear that the script was written by a bunch of hacks with liberal views thinking they were clever. Instead you got a poor film and a wasted cast.
