Review of Robin Hood (2018) by Hector V — 24 Nov 2018
For what it's worth, many of the film's sets look downright gorgeous (and expensive), which is odd given how poorly the rest of its contents sit. Taron Egerton, one of the most promising young actors working today (watch 'Eddie the Eagle,' trust me), is relegated to delivering the blandest of lines with generic action hero bravado as Robin Hood.
Ben Mendelsohn similarly doles out cookie-cutter villainy as the suspiciously sharply dressed Sheriff of Nottingham, a character decorated with obvious Trumpisms in a pitifully grasping attempt at substance and modern-day relevance.
In a plain, creative black hole of an action movie.
