Review of Robin Hood (2010) by Ernst M — 28 Dec 2011
The division amongst critics about this movie aside, I was excited to see this movie, yet also a little hesitant at the same time. I was excited because of the team of Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe generally produces great films.
I was hesitant because most â??Robin Hoodâ?? films (never mind being cheesy â?? but still enjoyable mind you) donâ??t tend to try lend any air to â??what is being seen could of happendâ?? and that is what this version seems to attempt.
So after seeing it I would have to say I wasnâ??t â??surprisedâ?? how much I enjoyed it but yet I didnâ??t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The quality of acting was as good as I expected but what did surprise me was the quantity and quality of the humour used in first ½ of the movie.
In terms of the â??realityâ?? aspect of the film, in my opinion came across quite well. In only thing slightly (very slightly) hindered the movie was though the individual acting of Blanchett and Crowe was well done, the chemistry between the two didnâ??t sit as well.
If there is to be a sequel hopefully that will be the part that improves.
