Review of Robin Hood (2010) by Geoff T — 24 Dec 2011
I see I am in the minority here and I feel as though I must "right the wrongs" of these haters. Where to begin? Well let's begin with the most obvious of all; If you love Robin Hood, love the lore, love the stories, love the myths and the legends then this movie is for you. Simply calling it nothing but "'gladiator 2' mixed with Braveheart mixed with saving private Ryan" is doing this movie no justice. This movie packs punches of series underlying themes and tones that transcend not only the movie itself, but the entire premise behind "Robin Hood." So some of the dialog is a bit cheesey, and of course there are things that are severly drawn out in this just over 2 and a half hour monster, but does that mean this movie reeks? Heck no. Do I feel like sometimes I wish it would just pick up a little bit and move on? Heck yes. Does that mean I would rather go down with the ship than watch it? Naw.
Bottom line:
Enjoyable Robin Hood flick with a great cast, amazing action sequences, a good build and most of all a sturdy foundation.
Absolutely watch this movie.
