When adapting comics to film, *this* film is an example of how to do it properly. A slow, thoughtful film, Road To Perdition heavily uses visuals to create the atmosphere, relies on minimalist dialogue that is both well-written and well-placed, and portrays violence as sad rather than as sensational or shocking.

Tom Hanks does an excellent job in performing the introspective and stiff-lipped character in a subtle, toned-down manner. Jude Law is successfully downright creepy in his portrayal of an eccentric, chipper assassin.

Well worth watching.
