Sam Mendes hit a walk-on grand slam with American Beauty, his first film. Then he cast Tom FUCKING Hanks, as a FUCKING hitman? Yes, but why? Because he actually isn't all that great a film maker, obviously.
I guess American Beauty was beginner's luck, because this movie really FUCKING sucks.
