Review of Road Hard (2015) by Nicholas W — 23 Mar 2015
This movie is the pinnacle achievement of mankind and here's why. This movie has jokes that are standalone funny, but also build a foundation to make even funnier moments later in the movie. This movie device is what made the early Farrelly brother comedies so good, but Road Hard pulls it off without being goofy.
The best example of this is in the beginning of the movie when Bruce smokes in the bathroom taking extreme precautions to keep the smoke from permeating the room, but is charged the $250 cleaning fee anyway.
We are treated with a great scene featuring a hilarious reparte with the front desk clerk. Later in the movie, this imminent threat of the smoking fee creates an even funnier situation when a potential lover locks herself in the bathroom and, in an emotional tirade, decides to smoke.
Bruce switches from saying anything he can to 'get her in the mood', to saying anything he can to get her to stop smoking, resulting in a gut busting scene. The movie is littered with these moments which why it is the best comedy movie in many, many moons.
