I really had high hopes for this movie. I listen to the Podcast daily and was very excited to see Adam come out with a movie that wasn't burdened by Hollywood executives where he could use his own voice and really give a new view\meaning\understanding to what life was like on the road, and provide some laughs along with it.

Sadly, he did none of that. This was a tired, formulaic, HORRIBLY acted (by the main character) movie that broke no new ground and wasn't even entertaining. To add insult to injury, it got WORSE towards the end when he tried to throw in the love story. Now normally somebody making a throw-away rom com would be unremarkable, but the thing is- Adam went to his fans and had them dig into their pockets to fund this movie. And they gave generously in order to fund the pirate ship and allow him to make something outside of the Hollywood circle of influence. He could have said or done anything he wanted and instead he used a cliche story line, and worse yet- recycled jokes that he's been telling for the past 5 years. I still don't understand why he keeps trying to turn all of his movies into Rom Coms instead of just a comedy. It's not like he had investors breathing down his throat forcing him on this one. Adam- your fans give you money to make a movie, you have 10+ professional comedians participate, and yet you are too lazy to even write any new jokes and instead use the same stuff that all of your loyal fans have been hearing you regurgitate for years??? What a slap in the face. I guess I shouldn't be surprised- it's the same reason why I refuse to go see his "stand up" act when it comes to town. I went 3 times over 4 years and got a total of about 10 minutes of new content combined. And he ended each show with that bit where he shows the audience his social security statement. Your fans are loyal to you and see your live shows and buy your movie, yet you keep ripping them off by doing the bare minimum instead of writing new material and making an honest effort to entertain. The critics have it right on this- it has nothing to do with politics; this movie is just a stinker. Adam should admit it and move on instead of whining that everyone is against him. Lastly, after seeing this, it makes more sense why all of the networks passed on his sitcom attempts. You are excellent at Improv and Comedy sketches (Man show\Crank Yankers), but acting and directing are not your strong points. You owe all of the fund-anything participators a refund, and Jenny McCarthy an apology.

Footnote- saw "Trainwreck". That is a perfect example of a comedian borrowing from their life\stand up act and translating it into a fantastic movie that hit on all cylinders. Great acting, plenty of celebrity cameos, great directing (she made the wise decision to go with a seasoned director instead of trying to do everything herself), fresh content instead of just rehashing bits from her show, and a well-crafted story (especially for a rom-com) where it was hilarious and still had some touching moments included.
