Review of River's Edge (1986) by Kris M — 18 Sep 2007
I loved this movie, probably because it was so bleak. It really shied away from the glossy 80s teen dramas and John Hughes obsession with classism, and dealt more with the hopelessness and apathy of small town youth, overshadowed by the general fear of nuclear war and "life is pointless".
Keanu was, well Keanu, but Ione Skye was great & Dennis Hopper & Daniel Roebuck were brilliant. Crispin Glover was fantastic as Layne, who was essentially George McFly on Speed. I recommend thsi to anyone who doesn't want to see a happy movie, or who is interested in seeing an 80s movie that felt more like a 90s movie.
