(1986) River's Edge.
DRAMA.
Based on a real-life incident that occurred in Milpitas, California centering on a dead body that wasn't reported for days even after some people knew about it. Centers on a small group of misfit teenagers where their parents don't really give a damn about where they spend much of their free time drinking, smoking and doing drugs meaning that the parents are portrayed as neglectful. Keanu Reeves is one of the stars and he is just as baffled and aimless as the rest of his peers since it's one of those situations where they wouldn't really know what to do first. There have been many other films that are similar to this with the only difference that this may have been the first movie to have started a realistic portrayal regarding what some teens do if they're not in school. The other way this film can be looked at is that the dead body can also serve as a backdrop to showcase how the system has failed at some young teenage youths.
3 out of 4 stars.
