Review of Rise of the Zombies (2012) by Mad M — 12 Feb 2013
Mariel Hemingway, Levar Burton and Danny Trejo head a talented cast in a pretty good rehash of the zombie movie. Aside from a better cast than usual, this films adds nothing new to the genre. The filmmakers did try to give a bit more attention to the whole how do zombies live question but since it is simply impossible they can't add anything much.
There is also some attempt to create a little atheist scientist versus religious believer tension but nothing comes of that either. The action is good and for a change who will die next is not predictable.
If you like zombie movies at all, this is an entertaining one but certainly no film classic.
