Review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) by Stéphane R — 15 Oct 2013
Featuring remarkable special effects and powerful performances, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an unforgettable movie that pulls you in through the use of emotion, it all feels so real and seeing the apes stuck in the cages being tormented and mistreated is hard to watch, and that's why there's a sense of justice and payback once Caesar and his Apes rise against authority.
The story is thoroughly constructed and compelling, watching Franco and Caesar grow and fight problems at work and at home is really interesting and the pace is so fast, there's not a dull scene and the finale on the Golden Gate Bridge is spectacular.
The supporting cast are outstanding, the script is very well written but my favourite aspect of the movie is David Oyewolo's performance as an uptight, snappy and harsh boss who is like a hammer on Franco's character.
