Scientist Will Rodman is conducting clinical trials that he hopes will cure his father's Alzheimer's disease, but when a chimp is accidently exposed to the drug he begins to show signs of increased intelligence.
Essentially a prequel to the original movies, Rise of the Planet of the Apes does a very good job of hitting all the expected beats and sets up what was to become a very good trilogy of movies. Andy Serkis mo-cap performance as the chimpanzee Caesar is worth watching for alone.
