Review of Rise of the Footsoldier (2007) by Stefan L — 09 Feb 2010
Badly acted, cheap looking, an hour of set up only for the main character to sort of disappear into the background, the story that then comes to the fore is quite interesting. but whether gloryfying their lifestyle or offering some kind of realism the film seems to do neither really.
the most redeeming feature was the violence itself which was brutal and bloody with an almost horror like attitude. if its footbal hooligans you want watch I.D. if its gangland killings then watch Essex Boys (which is actually about the same people).
