Review of Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) by Christopher P — 03 Nov 2007

If you thought this was an action movie with vampires you're sorely mistaken. It's a drawn out drama about vampires, like a boring version of Kill Bill. It's filled with bad CGI, horrifically cheesy dialogue, ham fisted direction and dreadful cinematography.

It does however have a very good and complex script... it just so happens that the writer is the director and he doesn't know how to "make a movie" at all. The flashback scenes are the highlight featuring some great moments that are creepy and mildly effective, Michael Chiklis turns in a good performance amid all the crap and Lucy Liu goes topless several times.

That's the only real reason to watch this. Unless watching vampires get shot by a tiny crossbow and they just fall over and die like a sack of potatoes is your thing... by all means enjoy.
