Review of Ripley's Game (2002) by Shane M — 01 Jan 2004
Flowing character study centering around two subjects. john malkovich plays thomas ripley beautifully- his character is remorseless and cold, while still being amusing and charasmatic. what I enjoyed most about this movie is the contrast in the main characters as they go through a maze of chaos and carnage, one man is a normal family man with a conscious who is sucked into a dangerous game by the hope of gaining money and helping his family.
..ripley plays for the enjoyment of it...despite their differences they bond and it is entertaining watching each of their reactions as the situation escalates into more and more carnage..in the end, the family man loses his innocence but seems to gain something by entering ripley's world.
..this movie does not offer non-stop action, but does build suspense and has it's share of violence.
