Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by Simon W — 04 Jan 2009
I love how laid back the style of this movie is. It has the simplist of stories and it takes it's sweet time to tell it. Scenes just seem to go on as long as they want to - they're not necessarily relaying any new information or progressing the story in any particular way - they're just existing.
The characters are very cool and likeble, and while it is only a PG and very family friendly there's still plenty of killing - which I was glad to see.
Had to laugh when that singing scene cropped up and then just kept on going, but by that stage you're so locked into how fucking nice the film is that you just go with it.
This will be a pleasant one to re-visit in a year or two.
