Review of Rings (2017) by Jiny S — 14 Feb 2017
Most movies are only meant to be made once. Sadly this is case for Rings.
Leonard from Big Bang Theory is a professor who believes in some afterlife thing for people's souls. He recruits his students in his experiments that somehow tests his vague theory by watching that freaky video clip. They are supposed to die in seven days from when they watched the video, unless they got a tail (someone who watched a copy of their movie clip and passes on the curse).
Biggest plot hole for me is that it's really not that hard to get someone to watch a video. Some joker would have sent it to a thousand people after he watched it. If that happens, and it probably would have in the real world, would the ghost girl even have the attention span to haunt EVERYBODY? Not very realistic.
The story begins with the protagonist's boyfriend when he suddenly went into incommunicado, and she accidentally discovered the whole thing. When his time almost ran out, she watched the video to save him. For some reason, because she's the chosen one, her video contained extra footage. She used the clues from the video clip to find out what happened to the ghost girl.
The ending should have been at the bonfire. It would have gotten more stars. The bit at the very end that hints another sequel made a few members of the audience groan.
