Review of Rings (2017) by Paul M — 11 Feb 2017
Went into this movie after seeing all the bad reviews so the bar was set pretty low. I think this movie is an adequate sequel, I was hoping they wouldn't do a social media version of The Ring and they didn't so I was glad there.
The fact that there was a university study covertly trying to figure out the phenomenon and setting the movie up with the double split experiment premise is a really good idea. The main actors in it are relative unknowns, pretty common for horror movies, but they did lack a chemistry.
There was a few jump/noise scares that did get me, but the film was lacking an overall tension even with a ticking bomb plot device built in. Still glad I saw it, deserves better than 5% .
