Review of Righteous Kill (2008) by Colton I — 14 Jul 2009
Nearly everything about this film falls apart if you watch it already knowing what happens in the end. Everything about the plot necessitates a careful adherence to a set of rules designed solely to pull the wool over the audience's eyes, and unfortunately, the writer became so caught up with the film's 'twist' that he could only think to steal elements from better crime dramas to fill out the rest of the plot.
Add two post-dated, mailed in performances from DeNiro and Pacino, and you've got... well, not much of interest. I'm glad to see that they fixed some of the script's most glaring errors before they put the actors in front of the cameras, but they missed the biggest mistake of all.
I'll leave that one up to your imagination.
