Review of Righteous Kill (2008) by Corey B — 18 Feb 2011
Alright, to really describe how terrible this movie is, I have to get into spoiler territory, so you've been warned.
So, you start the movie with De Niro admitting to committing a whole bunch of murders. Then when you see the murders they're all done from a POV shot. So, you start asking...well, if we know De Niro did it, why don't we see him do it....
Then you start to realize that Al Pacino hasn't done a thing for forty-five minutes. I mean he's there all the time, but the roll isn't juicy at all. He keeps harping on some evidence De Niro planted, which makes you ask, "Why would you take this role Al Pacino?".
Until you realize (not far into the movie) that Pacino must have some really juicy scenes at the end....and then you put two and two together, and the big twist seems so obvious.
The movie offers little beyond the machinations of its own plot, which thinks it's more clever than it is.
A huge disappointment. Just watch the diner scene from Heat again.
