Review of Ricochet (1991) by Ali N — 24 Aug 2009
Never really been that interested in Denzel as an actor or even as the supposed sexy guy women would gladly give their left arm to fuck. He's attractive yes but nothing to deserve the top spot on every hot list (in my opinion of course).
Denzel as a performer isn't much better, his roles never stray far from Denzel playing Denzel. He's a boring actor in other words. This film totally destroyed my first concern on Denzel's hotness, the guy is fucking cut in this one! He's a bit pudgy today but the motherfucker was tight back in the day.
His acting sadly doesn't follow suit, another hit the snooze button anytime he appears on screen. Otherwise this is certainly a product of the nineties, every single word spoken and scene directed reeks of cheese.
At the center is John Lithgow who honestly could have played this sort of role a hundred times and I'd never get bored of it. Insanely over the top with a catalog of awesome one liners, he's ever so fun to watch on the screen.
He certainly makes the movie for me, everything else is done in a standard albeit very entertaining way. Jesse Ventura shows up with a tattoo on his head and has a fight with Lithgow in armor made out of phonebooks.
I could watch stuff like this everyday and live the rest of my days with a smile on my face.
