Review of Ricki and the Flash (2015) by Keira R — 08 Aug 2015
It's cute, has its funny moments, there's Meryl (what more could you ask for), but I truly believe Mamie Gummer takes the cake in this film. She definitely inherited her mother's acting gene & while Meryl's character was all up in your face, Mamie's "Julie" wasn't.
She was powerful yet subtle. Nice ying to her mother's yang. Wished Audra would've sang something, hell, give her the phone book to sing, but it was great seeing her opposite Meryl. Two powerhouses in their own right.
It must've been a challenge for Meryl to play this "tea-bagger" considering she's the total opposite. Overall, I liked it, but it's a rental. But I'm a sucker for Meryl (and now her offspring).
