Ricki and the Flash benefits from the usual amazing performance from Meryl Streep. Mamie Gummer and Rick Springfield were also very good in their roles as well. Diablo Cody's strong script and Jonathan Demme's direction and make the film worthwhile.

Unfortunately, the film has a slew of problems. First, the film is heavily cliched. From the beginning, you know basically everything that will happen in the movie. Also, sometimes the comedy and drama don't mesh well.

There is a really dramatic moment where they sometimes try to insert comedy into the same scene. It doesn't work. The drama and mild comedy work well on their own. This is a enjoyable film that isn't very special, but it is ok.
