Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Adeesh A — 12 Nov 2010
What a tough movie to watch. It left me tense and agitated. The acting was superb, with DiCaprio and Winslet turning in great performances, but I think my favorite was Michael Shannon as the creepy mental institute son.
The musical score was fantastic and the cinematography was beautiful, as is usual for Roger Deakins. The story was interesting and moved forward at a decent pace. Probably the biggest minus for me was based on content.
The characters have very few redeeming qualities and the depressing situation made for an unenjoyable movie. Despite the dark subject matter, it is an exceptionally well made film. Not really something I'd watch again, as I didn't enjoy the experience, but well made nonetheless.
