Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Renee C — 15 Nov 2011
I saw this movie for the second time, this past weekend. The first time I saw the film, I was going through a divorce and this film struck a chord within my heart. It was painful and uncomfortable. I don't know why people seem to be so un-affected by the performances, I found them to be spot on in a troubled marriage scenario.
April Wheeler, the character, seems stuck up and silly, like a child having a wild fantasy that then does not get her way, she throws a tantrum. As Frank Wheeler, DiCaprio finally seems to have grown into his acting chops, no longer the skinny weird kid from Titanic.
I recommend this film, I enjoyed it for the realism. Its shot beautifully as well. I imagine this and The Help in my head when I think of America in the 1950s, looking like perfection but trembles under the surface.
