Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Katherine P — 03 Jan 2012
Emotionally powerful and relentless in it's intensity - Revolutionary Road is a dark tale of what happens when we cannot escape the boxes we put ourselves in. Winslet and DiCaprio give haunting performances but it's Shannon who really shines as the mental patient who sees through all the smoke and mirrors of suburban life.
With so many comparisons to Mendes' previous Oscar-winner American Beauty, it's safe to say that Road is certainly a much gloomier and depressing portrait of 'The American Dream.' Authentic and heart-wrenching.
