Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Sammie G — 21 Aug 2012
I think this film, especially the last scene of the film, brings to our attention this need that people have to fulfill certain requirements in life even if there is no love in it.
After a heated argument that leads to April confessing that she has no love for Frank, the following day, they ignore this truth and carry on. Pretending to take an interest in each other.
We see Shep and Milly ignoring the truth as well. It's clear to Milly that Shep is in love with April. But again, they ignore this fact and fabricate happiness.
This film begs the question, why do we feel the need to bow down to the expectations? Why is it better to choose an unfulfilled stereotypical life, than one that is passionate but strays off the path?
