Revolutionary Road.
3 And A Half Out Of 5.
Revolutionary Road is a character driven feature of a couple who thrives to survive each with all the tactics they can think of. The chemistry among the characters seemed mandatory to be excellent and palpable but the makers wisely gave them an edgy tone to fill their skills in and flaunt it like never before. It is rich on technical aspects like costume, production and art design, cinematography, and editing although is short on background score and sound department. The writing is adaptive, fast-paced and elaborative which makes one of the best combinations of all time to lock the untold mystery. The adaptation by Justin Haythe is smart if not gripping and thought-provoking and sensible if not engaging. Sam Mendes; the director, aces in executing such an eerie plot and its his brilliant perspective that makes it intriguing enough to invest in it. The performance is scored majestically by the lead couple (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) in their parallel roles and is supported thoroughly by an amazing cast like Kathy Bates, Kathryn Hahn and Michael Shannon. Revolutionary Road does not only revolutionizes the genre but redefines it in its own terms that is exhilarating as much as dark.
