Review of Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008) by Adam P — 13 Nov 2008
A very smart sequel that reinvents and inverts its progenitor, turning Camp Arawak into Camp Manabe (an anagram for "Be a Man", get it?) and reversing the character types and personalities that populated the original (the bullied Alan, for example, is Angela's exact opposite).
Completely in the spirit of the original, Hiltzik once again proves his talent at making camp (pun intended) witty, and thinking up gruesome and unconventional kills. Preserves the fun and moralistic spirit of the best 80s slashers in a mainstream horror climate that has become increasingly cold and bitter.
