Review of Return to Peyton Place (1961) by Evan H — 05 Aug 2008
The first film was a beautiful, tastefully-handled soap opera that skirted around some really distasteful topics. This follow-up is far less prestigious and far less beautiful, but features a mind-altering performance by Mary Astor as a manipulative, haughty, vengeful, controlling old bat who uses the people of Peyton Place as so many chess pieces.
Every single moment she has in the film is priceless.
