Review of Return to Oz (1985) by Stephen S — 11 Sep 2011
A very imaginative movie with a fantastic score! When viewing this movie, one has to separate it from the classic Wizard of Oz since it's really a different take on the world of Oz. While the dark and more eerie tone was a turn off to a lot of people, I found it to be refreshing and more true to the feeling in some of the later Frank Baum novels.
While some of the writing is murkier than I would have liked, and the ending seemed to come out of nowhere with quick and bizarre plot twists, I overall found it to be an enjoyable experience especially compared to other more generic fantasy films.
