Review of Return to Oz (1985) by Aliese P — 25 Jul 2012
A truly fantastic film. It suffers from some pacing issues, but in general is a darker, more adult adventure through Oz. You'll see the early 20th century's naive glorification of anything electric.
You'll see Aunt Em and Uncle Henry at odds. You'll see the bowels of an unscrupulous psychologist's torture chamber. You'll see Oz in ruins. But most importantly, you'll see Dorothy make good friends and overcome it all in her quest to put things right.
An under appreciated and forgotten film, Return to Oz is worth every minute.
