Review of Resurrecting the Champ (2007) by Jeff H — 24 Apr 2008
This is a decent drama. Josh Hartnett is surprisingly good as the father who tries to keep his son's admiration by lying and who also struggles to get his shot in journalism. Too bad I knew too much about this movie, even though I knew next to nothing.
That was sadly enough for me to guess the plot halfway through. Jackson is pretty funny in the way he speaks and moves and does a good job portraying the ex-boxer. In the end it's about integrity, honesty and telling the truth, and these themes are explored with enough sympathy that the experience is enjoyable.
Nothing special, but easily better than the average crap that Hollywood churns out these days. I'm just glad the annoying drunken punk got what he deserved in the end. It would have nagged me if he didn't.
