Review of Restrepo (2010) by Keen C — 04 Jan 2011
This is an absolutely riveting and fascinating docu-movie on an actual deployment/mission in Afghanistan. I give it 5 stars because it is REAL. Period. The Hurt Locker and other great movies in this genre remain as Hollywood productions that tend to be dramatised and politicised for box office effect.
Restrepo is out of that league and is an important contribution to the coverage on the conflict. The raw footage is intense and emotionally charged. The debriefing and reflections of the men provide an insight to the pressures they face and how they deal with them.
