Review of Restrepo (2010) by Marian D — 23 Jan 2011
A year of war games crammed into a humdrum documentary with a dying topic. To see a film like this embedded with an infantry platoon during the beginning of the storm would have been a sight to see. But to watch "Restrepo", a film that follows an infantry platoon six years after the bombs stopped falling, was a waste of time decorated with bullets and bombs aimed at trees.
Sure, life in Afghanistan sucks; write your congressman. Don't make a monotonous documentary film without any sense of coherent structure. Maybe to people who haven't been deployed this could be very interesting.
But, for people like me, you gotta pack a lot more in your ruck sack than a few fair shots between banal interviews.
