Review of Restrepo (2010) by Zak A — 12 Feb 2011
Amazing documentary that really dives into the emotions and thoughts of soldiers in one of the world's most dangerous warzones. What really makes this documentary stand out though is that the film crew actually went into this warzone and stayed with the group of soldiers for an entire year and captured every moment they possibly could.
This film was also very unbiased. They really kept the politics out of it and simply just showed how these men dealt with the harsh realities of war day in and day out. Very little violence, most of it is just described by the men in the platoon, making it that much more powerful and haunting.
This film is up for Best Documentary at the Oscars and it is definitely worth the nomination.
