Review of Rest Stop (2006) by Andrew C — 01 Dec 2008

Not bad. It was better then some of the other movies I watched this weekend. Kind of kept tossing you around in it, I wasn't sure what was supposed to be real and what wasn't. Which in some parts of the movie it made it freaky, but then other times it was like "What the hell does that have to do with anything?". I did enjoy it, but there was just too much unanswered and I didn't feel like I was getting enough to interpret what was going on. It was like, "Here's a rest stop and some crazy sh!t, enjoy.".

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy those feelings of "What the hell!?!" But only when accompanied with some kind of why it was happening. I mean I was getting on the tracks to assume that this was like a small pocket of hell, but that didn't seem to pan out. Some of the things that didn't add up for me were the crazy RV people, which just seemed like they were placed in there because back-water families are needed in a crazy film. And at the very end it seems like everyone and their mother stopped at this rest stop, which was supposed to be out in the middle of nowhere. It's just I can see if "sinners" would some how find their way to this rest stop and then were trapped there being tormented for eternity and not really knowing that this was their hell punishment(that seems cool to me), but you can't have crazy hell stuff one day and then normal rest stop the next day. I can understand parallel ghost dimension rest stop and regular rest stop area but when you have the damage from the ghost rest stop area carrying over to the regular rest stop area that's when things don't line up right.
